Prologue

It was a year like many others; the mist, the cold, the tents rising from empty field, the repeat of many years on the banks of the Walnut River.  But this year would turn out different. 

Who could have known?  Was it that Tom and Mike and Bepe did not appear?  Or was it the Porta-Potty man with the big stick?

And what about the pirates? And the falling bed?

And . . . .  .the elusive Maiden of the Blue Thong,, who appeared in the night, and never again? And what about the bulldozers? And all that blood?
